New PU Template (coordinates with PS June Blog Train)

posted in: Scrapbooking | 9

As you know from my last post, my PixelScrapper June blog train portion is done and posted, but I had a free day or two yet in the month, so I got creative with a 12″ scrapbooking layout template to help use some of the lovely things you’ll be downloading. This is more geared to the iconic Britain sort of elements, but could still be used for things like travel photos, a wedding abroad, or even English cottage gardens. I hope you enjoy it.

Rose, templates are pretty easy. Open the PSD or TIFF in any of the major graphics programs (Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, PaintShop Pro, and GIMP will definitely open one or the other format), choose your papers and use the template layers as clipping masks for things that aren’t elements. Then place elements at the locations shown, scaled to the appropriate size. Clip your scaled photos to the photo clipping masks, tweak shadows to your satisfaction, and you’ve got a great-looking layout! You can, of course, turn off any layers you want and just use (for example) the background paper and the white and red Union Jack layers, then proceed to add photos and elements differently.

They’re a good way to share a beautifully clustered layout, and good for people who are new to clustering and people who lack the creative inspiration, time, or skill to make a similar layout entirely from scratch. For more advanced people, they’re a quick shortcut to making a page in a style that’s not their usual scrapbooking style, or to getting a great background (like the large waving Union Jack in the double-pager) without having to spend the time making the waved shape layers.
